Abigail Levine’s Restagings

Abigail Levine’s Restagings is a series of long-form performances that reread minimalist and conceptual artworks as works of performances, bringing forward the bodies, choreography, and labor embedded in visual artworks. The series restages works by an iconic cadre of 1960s artists—Sol LeWitt, Richard Serra, Carl Andre, Robert Morris, and Walter de Maria—all of whom were closely associated with dance and performance artists of their era—Yvonne Rainer, Simone Forti, Yoko Ono, Ana Mendieta, and Carolee Schneemann among them. To date, the series includes Choreographing LeWitt (2017), Of Serra (to movement) (2018), and Fall (C.A.) (2019).
